Mutual CPESN Awarded Practice Transformation Grant for Better Pharmacy Care in North Carolina
Mutual CPESN and Mutual Drug Recognized by the Community Pharmacy Foundation to participate in “Flip the Pharmacy”
October 2, 2019 (Durham, NC) – “Flip the Pharmacy”, a national practice transformation effort sponsored by the Community Pharmacy Foundation, has partnered with Mutual CPESN and Mutual Drug to bring innovative practices to community pharmacies throughout North Carolina. This initiative aims to transform community-based pharmacies to go beyond filling prescriptions to a model of providing comprehensive pharmacy care.
Mutual CPESN is one of 27 teams across the country who were recognized for their efforts. The program will engage with over 70 coaches supporting more than 500 pharmacies across the country.
The Flip the Pharmacy team in North Carolina will be led by Mutual CPESN, a statewide network of high-performing and innovative community pharmacies. They will utilize a hands-on approach with the pharmacies to equip them with the skills and resources needed for the transformation. Additional support for this program has been provided by Mutual Drug, the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, and WellCare of North Carolina.
“As the largest, privately held advocate for independent pharmacy in North Carolina, we welcome the opportunity to continue to support our members and provide opportunities for them to succeed,” said Mike Broome, CEO of Mutual Drug. “The Flip the Pharmacy program is evidence of that commitment and providing the tools that our pharmacies need to enhance their patient care.”
Thirty pharmacies will enroll in the two-year program that launches on October 1, 2019. Throughout the course of the program, pharmacies will work to transform their workflows to focus on patient care that is well-coordinated across the healthcare team.
“We’re thrilled for the opportunity and for the confidence that Flip the Pharmacy has in Mutual CPESN”, said Patrick Brown, Executive Director of Mutual CPESN. “Having partners with the foresight to invest their resources in this program demonstrates their dedication to the success of community pharmacy throughout our state. These efforts will spark a transformation in pharmacy across North Carolina”
